YOSHITAKA NISHIGAKI | WAKAYAMA

UNORTHODOX WATERCOLOURIST

Redefining an art form by breaking the rules

Yoshitaka Nishigaki challenges the traditional approach of Nihonga paintings. Through his unique take on watercolour painting, Yoshitaka Nishigaki continues to push the boundaries of the centuries old Japanese art form. His style is described to be a reinterpretation of Nihonga paintings with a breath of freshness, elevated with his unconventional use of colours.

I would describe my work as an ascetic practice.

It’s about me having to keep painting so I can evolve and improve.
